Overview

The LSF0106T16-13 is a 6-channel bidirectional voltage level translator capable of shifting signals between 0.65V and 5.5V. It supports both open-drain and push-pull applications without the need for a direction control pin, making it highly versatile for mixed-voltage systems. This device is particularly effective for high-speed interfaces like MDIO, SDIO, and I2C where multiple voltage domains coexist.

Why Choose This Part

The LSF0106 provides bidirectional translation without a DIR pin, reducing PCB trace complexity and GPIO overhead. It features extremely low standby current of 0.1 uA and supports up to 64mA output current per channel. Its wide supply range (0.65V to 4.5V on VCCA and 1.5V to 5.5V on VCCB) allows it to bridge almost any common logic level in modern electronics.

Applications

I2C and SMBus Level Shifting
Translates between low-voltage microcontrollers (0.8V to 1.8V) and standard 3.3V or 5V peripheral buses in open-drain configurations.
SDIO Interface
Provides high-speed level shifting for SD card interfaces between 1.8V host controllers and 3.3V memory cards.
GPIO Expansion
Safely bridges general purpose I/O between modern ultra-low-power SoCs and legacy 5V TTL logic devices.
MDIO Management Interface
Handles bidirectional communication between network PHYs and MAC controllers operating at different supply rails.

Getting Started

When designing with the LSF0106, ensure that VCCB is always at least 0.8V higher than VCCA for proper operation. For open-drain signals like I2C, external pull-up resistors are required on both sides to define the high-level voltage. High-speed push-pull signals may benefit from series termination to manage signal integrity across the 16-TSSOP package.
