Overview

The MAX-M8Q-0 is a high-performance concurrent GNSS module from u-blox built on the M8 engine. It supports simultaneous reception of GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo to provide high sensitivity and rapid acquisition times in challenging environments. This module is housed in a compact 9.7mm x 10.1mm LCC package and operates on a supply voltage between 2.7V and 3.6V.

Why Choose This Part

The module features an integrated SAW filter and an additional LNA, providing excellent RF performance and interference immunity. It offers concurrent reception of up to three GNSS systems, which significantly improves positioning accuracy in urban canyons and dense foliage compared to single-constellation receivers.

Applications

Fleet Management
High-accuracy tracking for commercial vehicle logistics utilizing concurrent multi-constellation support.
Industrial IoT Tracking
Low-power asset tracking where 23mA continuous current and 30uA sleep modes extend battery life.
Precision Timing
Utilizing the built-in timing features and RTC for synchronized industrial control systems.
Portable Navigation Devices
Compact form factor suitable for handheld outdoor equipment requiring high sensitivity of -167dBm.

Getting Started

To evaluate this module, engineers typically use the u-blox EVK-M8 evaluation kit or integrate the 18-pin LCC module onto a custom PCB with a 3.0V supply. Configuration is performed through the u-center GNSS evaluation software via the UART or I2C interfaces to set protocol parameters and power modes.
