MAX14870 - Motor Controller/Driver Power Management Evaluation Board
Active3 in stock

Overview

The MAX14870EVKIT# is a fully assembled and tested evaluation board for the MAX14870 single-H-bridge motor driver. It allows for the rapid prototyping of brushed DC motor and relay control applications using a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 36V. The board includes a USB-to-UART interface to enable control via a PC-based graphical user interface.

Why Choose This Part

This kit provides a complete hardware and software solution, reducing firmware development time through its dedicated GUI. The wide 4.5V to 36V operating range makes it compatible with standard 12V and 24V industrial rails, while the H-bridge integration simplifies the power stage design.

Applications

Brushed DC Motor Driving
Bi-directional control of brushed DC motors in industrial or consumer hardware.
Relay Control
Driving solenoid and relay coils that require up to 36V and high current switching.
Robotic Actuators
Providing precise PWM-based speed and direction control for small to mid-sized robotic joints.
Industrial Valve Control
Operating 12V or 24V industrial valves with integrated overcurrent protection.

Getting Started

To begin, connect a power supply between 4.5V and 36V to the VDD and GND terminals and attach a brushed DC motor to the OUT1 and OUT2 headers. Install the MAX14870 Evaluation Software on a Windows PC and connect the board via the micro-USB port to exercise the motor driver logic using the GUI. For custom microcontroller integration, bypass the on-board USB-to-UART bridge and connect your MCU directly to the PWM and DIR logic pins.
