Overview

The MAX14932AAWE+ is a 4-channel, 2750Vrms digital isolator designed to provide robust galvanic isolation for digital signals. It features a 2-forward/2-reverse channel configuration and supports data rates up to 1Mbps, ensuring safe communication between circuits operating at different voltage potentials.

Why Choose This Part

This device offers a wide supply voltage range of 1.71V to 5.5V, allowing direct interfacing with low-voltage FPGAs and 5V microcontrollers. It provides high Common-Mode Transient Immunity (CMTI) of 25kV/us (typical) and operates across a wide temperature range of -40C to +125C for harsh environments.

Applications

Industrial Fieldbus Isolation
Protects low-voltage microcontrollers from high-voltage transients in RS-485, RS-422, and RS-232 communication links.
Isolated SPI Interfaces
Provides the necessary galvanic barrier for SPI bus signals between a master controller and isolated sensors or ADCs.
Battery Management Systems
Isolates monitoring circuitry from high-voltage battery stacks to ensure technician safety and prevent ground loops.
Motor Control Feedback
Transmits digital encoder or hall-effect sensor data across the isolation barrier in industrial motor drives.

Getting Started

Place 0.1uF bypass capacitors as close as possible to the VDD1 and VDD2 pins on both sides of the isolation barrier to ensure signal integrity. For rapid evaluation, the MAX1493XEVKIT can be used to test the timing and isolation characteristics of the MAX1493x family.
