The MAX3232ECPWR is a 3-V to 5.5-V multichannel RS-232 line driver and receiver featuring enhanced ESD protection for the bus pins. It utilizes a proprietary low-dropout transmitter output stage and a dual charge pump to enable true RS-232 performance from a single supply while maintaining a very low supply current of 0.3 mA typical.

Getting Started

To implement this part, place four 0.1 uF charge-pump capacitors as close to the IC as possible to ensure stable voltage doubling and inversion. For prototyping, the 16-TSSOP package requires a breakout board or a custom PCB, as it is not breadboard compatible without an adapter.
