Voltage Level Translator Bidirectional 1 Circuit 4 Channel 16Mbps 14-TSSOP
NRND14,140 in stock

Overview

The MAX3378EEUD+T is a four-channel, bidirectional voltage-level translator designed for high-speed data communication between system components operating at different voltage rails. It supports translation from as low as 1.2V on the VCCA side to as high as 5.5V on the VCCB side, making it ideal for interfacing modern low-voltage processors with legacy 3.3V or 5V peripherals. The device features an architecture that does not require a direction-control pin, simplifying PCB routing and firmware requirements.

Why Choose This Part

This translator includes integrated thermal-shutdown protection and ESD protection to enhance system ruggedness. It is highly efficient for power-sensitive designs, featuring a low 1uA shutdown current and 130uA standby current. The three-state output mode and the lack of a direction-control pin make it particularly flexible for complex bus architectures.

Applications

SPI and I2C Bus Translation
Provides reliable bidirectional level shifting for serial interfaces operating at speeds up to 16Mbps.
Low-Voltage ASIC Interfacing
Enables communication between advanced 1.2V ASICs or FPGAs and higher voltage 3.3V/5V system components.
Portable POS Systems
Facilitates signal integrity in battery-powered handheld devices requiring thermal-shutdown and ESD protection.
Smart Card Readers
Manages voltage level differences between smart card interfaces and the host microcontroller.

Getting Started

Ensure that VCCA is always less than or equal to VCCB during operation, with VCCA ranging from 1.2V to 5.5V and VCCB from 1.65V to 5.5V. Bypass both supply pins with 0.1uF ceramic capacitors placed as close to the 14-TSSOP package as possible to minimize noise. For high-speed operation up to 16Mbps, minimize capacitive loading on the I/O lines.
