Overview

The MCP1726-1202E/SNVAO is a high-current, low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator providing a fixed 1.2V output at up to 1A. It is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive reliability and features extremely low quiescent current to minimize power drain in standby modes. The device includes specialized features like a Power Good output with adjustable delay and an enable pin for precise system sequencing.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator offers an excellent balance of high output current (1A) and low standby power consumption, with a shutdown current of just 0.1 uA. Its Power Good feature includes an adjustable delay, allowing engineers to fine-tune power-up sequencing without external timers. Furthermore, the AEC-Q100 qualification ensures robust performance in harsh temperature environments ranging from -40C to +125C.

Applications

Automotive ECU Power
Provides stable 1.2V rails for core logic in automotive control units requiring AEC-Q100 reliability.
Networking Backplane Cards
Supplies high-current low-voltage rails for high-speed driver chipsets and communication interfaces.
Portable Computing
Ideal for palmtop and notebook computers where low shutdown current (0.1 uA typical) extends battery life.
FPGA and DSP Core Rails
Delivers the 1A current required for modern 1.2V digital logic cores with integrated short-circuit protection.

Getting Started

To implement this LDO, place a minimum 1.0uF ceramic output capacitor close to the VOUT and GND pins for stability. Use the C_DELAY pin to set the Power Good delay time by selecting an appropriate capacitor value. For automotive applications, ensure the SOIC-8 thermal pad or ground pins are adequately soldered to a PCB heat sink plane to manage power dissipation at 1A loads.
