MCP2561FD-E/P

MCHPMCP2561FD-E/P

Microchip Technology
1/1 Transceiver Half CANbus 8-PDIP
Active433 in stock

Overview

The MCP2561FD-E/P is a high-speed CAN FD transceiver that serves as the interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical two-wire bus. It is specifically designed for high-speed applications up to 8Mbps, providing differential transmit and receive capability while maintaining low current consumption in standby mode.

Why Choose This Part

This transceiver offers a high level of robustness with IEC61000-4-2 ESD protection up to +/-14 kV and internal protection against short circuits to battery voltages. Its 8-PDIP through-hole package makes it suitable for prototyping on breadboards or for use in rugged industrial equipment where through-hole components are preferred for mechanical durability.

Applications

Automotive Vehicle Networks
Used in body electronics, chassis control, and powertrain systems requiring AEC-Q100 qualification and high-speed CAN FD data rates.
Industrial Automation
Ideal for industrial fieldbus communication in environments requiring robust EMI performance and protection against high-voltage transients.
Level Shifting Communication
Utilizes the Vio pin to interface directly with microcontrollers operating on logic levels from 1.8V to 5.5V without external level shifters.

Getting Started

To implement this part, connect the TXD and RXD pins to your CAN controller and provide 5V to the VDD pin. If using a low-voltage MCU, connect the MCU's I/O voltage to the Vio pin; otherwise, tie Vio to VDD. Ensure a 120-ohm termination resistor is present at both ends of the CAN bus network.
