Overview

The MCP6002-E/MS is a dual, general-purpose operational amplifier featuring rail-to-rail input and output swing. It is designed to operate from a low supply voltage of 1.8V to 6V while maintaining a low typical quiescent current of 100uA per channel. This MSOP-8 packaged device provides a 1 MHz Gain Bandwidth Product, making it suitable for cost-sensitive analog signal processing.

Why Choose This Part

This amplifier offers a high Slew Rate of 0.6V/us relative to its low power consumption, enabling better dynamic response in low-power applications. The rail-to-rail input and output capability maximizes dynamic range on low-voltage rails, while the 1 pA input bias current minimizes errors in high-impedance circuits.

Applications

Portable Equipment
Ideal for battery-powered handheld devices due to its 1.8V minimum operating voltage and low current consumption.
Photodiode Amplifier
Utilizes the extremely low 1 pA input bias current to accurately amplify low-level currents from optical sensors.
Analog Filters
Commonly used in active filter topologies for sensor conditioning where rail-to-rail performance is required.
Automotive Signal Conditioning
Supports extended temperature ranges from -40C to 125C for use in vehicle cabin electronics and climate control.

Getting Started

Engineers can evaluate this part using the Microchip MCP6XXX Amplifier Evaluation Board or by prototyping on a standard MSOP-8 to DIP adapter. When designing the PCB layout, place a 0.1uF bypass capacitor as close to the VDD pin as possible to minimize noise in high-impedance applications.
