Overview

The MGM240PB32VNA3 is a pre-certified multiprotocol wireless module built on the Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 SoC, designed specifically for Matter, Zigbee, and OpenThread applications. It features an integrated PCB trace antenna and 1536 KB of Flash to support complex mesh networking stacks alongside Bluetooth 5.4 Low Energy connectivity.

Why Choose This Part

This module provides a turnkey RF solution with an ARM Cortex-M33 core featuring TrustZone and Secure Vault technology for PSA Level 3 security. With 256 KB of RAM and high output power up to 20 dBm, it handles demanding multiprotocol stacks without requiring external power amplifiers or extensive RF tuning.

Applications

Smart Home Hubs
Acts as a central gateway for Matter over Thread or Zigbee networks, managing high-node-count device ecosystems with robust security.
Industrial Mesh Networking
Utilizes 20 dBm output power and -106 dBm sensitivity to maintain reliable long-range multiprotocol communication in noisy industrial environments.
Connected Lighting
Integrated PWM and hardware cryptographic acceleration enable secure, responsive control of smart LED systems via Bluetooth or 802.15.4.
Building Automation
Monitors environmental sensors and controls HVAC systems using low-power sleep modes to extend battery life in wireless sensor nodes.

Getting Started

Development is supported through the Silicon Labs Simplicity Studio IDE, which provides the GSDK for Zigbee, OpenThread, and Matter development. For hardware evaluation, engineers should use the xG24-PK6010A Pro Kit to access the module's 36-pin I/O including SPI, UART, and I2C interfaces.

Also Consider

MGM210P SiLSilicon Labs - An older generation module optimized for Zigbee and Thread if the advanced AI/ML and security features of the MG24 are not required.
ESP32-WROOM-32E Espressif Systems - A cost-effective alternative providing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, though it lacks native 802.15.4/Zigbee support found in the MGM240.
