Overview

The MIC4605-1YMT-TR is an 85V Half-Bridge MOSFET driver designed for high-efficiency power conversion and motor control. It features advanced adaptive dead time and shoot-through protection to prevent cross-conduction in half-bridge configurations. Operating from a supply voltage of 5.5V to 16V, it can drive N-Channel MOSFETs with rapid 20ns rise and fall times.

Why Choose This Part

The IC includes an on-chip bootstrap diode which reduces external component count and saves PCB space in the 2.5mm x 2.5mm TDFN package. Its adaptive dead time circuitry automatically optimizes switching transitions to maximize efficiency while ensuring protection against simultaneous conduction of high and low-side FETs.

Applications

Brushless DC (BLDC) Motor Drives
Provides reliable gate drive for three-phase motor inverters in fans and industrial tools.
High-Voltage Step-Down Regulators
Efficiently manages the high-side and low-side FETs in synchronous buck converters up to 85V.
Power Inverters
Used in DC-to-AC power conversion stages for renewable energy or portable power systems.

Getting Started

When designing with this part, ensure the VDD bypass capacitor is placed close to the pins and choose a bootstrap capacitor based on the gate charge of the high-side MOSFET. For prototyping, Microchip offers the ADM00661 evaluation board which demonstrates the MIC4605 in a typical application circuit.
