Overview

The MIC5233-3.3YM5-TR is a high-input voltage, low-quiescent-current linear regulator capable of operating from a 2.3V to 36V input. This AEC-Q100 qualified LDO provides a fixed 3.3V output at up to 100mA while maintaining a very low 18 microampere ground current, making it ideal for always-on battery-powered systems. It features robust protection circuitry including reverse battery protection and reverse leakage protection to prevent damage during fault conditions.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator is unique for its 36V high-voltage capability combined with comprehensive protection features like reverse polarity and reverse leakage protection. Its muCap design ensures stability with small, low-cost ceramic output capacitors, reducing overall PCB footprint and bill-of-materials cost.

Applications

Automotive Keep-Alive Systems
Provides regulated power to clock modules and security systems directly from the 12V or 24V vehicle battery while maintaining extremely low standby current.
Industrial Sensor Nodes
Regulates 24V industrial rails down to 3.3V for low-power microcontrollers and sensors in harsh electrical environments.
Battery-Powered Telemetry
Extends battery life in remote monitoring equipment through low dropout voltage and minimal quiescent current draw during active and idle modes.

Getting Started

To implement this LDO, place a 1.0 microfarad ceramic capacitor on the output for stability and a 0.1 microfarad capacitor on the input if the device is located far from the power source. The Enable (EN) pin can be tied directly to the input voltage for always-on operation or controlled by a CMOS-logic signal to enter a 0.1 microampere shutdown mode.
