ACS711 Magnetic Hall Effect Sensor mikroBUS™ Click™ Platform Evaluation Expansion Board
Active3 in stock

Overview

The MIKROE-2987 is a current sensing expansion board based on the Allegro ACS711 Hall Effect sensor, designed for monitoring AC or DC currents up to 12A. This board provides galvanic isolation up to 100V and features a very low series resistance of 1.2mOhms to minimize power loss. It integrates with the mikroBUS ecosystem to provide both an analog voltage output proportional to current and an overcurrent fault indicator.

Why Choose This Part

The board features a sensitivity of 110mV/A and thermal compensation for consistent measurements across temperature shifts. Its low 1.2mOhm internal resistance ensures that the sensor does not become a significant heat source or cause excessive voltage drop in the target circuit.

Applications

Power Supply Monitoring
Real-time tracking of current consumption in low-voltage DC power rails to optimize efficiency.
White Goods Control
Integrated current sensing for household appliances to detect motor stalls or operational anomalies.
Audio Amplifier Protection
Monitoring speaker current to prevent thermal damage and ensure safe operating conditions.
Overcurrent Fault Detection
Utilizing the dedicated FAULT pin to trigger immediate system shutdowns during short-circuit events.

Getting Started

Plug the board into any mikroBUS-compatible socket and interface with the analog output pin through your MCU ADC. Use the FAULT pin as an external interrupt to handle overcurrent events. Software libraries for MikroElektronika compilers are available to simplify current calculation and calibration.
