MCP23S17 GPIO Interface mikroBUS™ Click™ Platform Evaluation Expansion Board
Active56 in stock

Overview

The Expand Click is a mikroBUS add-on board designed to provide additional GPIO pins via the Microchip MCP23S17 I/O expander. It offers 16 bits of general-purpose parallel I/O, allowing engineers to increase the pin count of a resource-constrained microcontroller using only a single SPI interface.

Why Choose This Part

The board features a high-speed SPI interface and includes configurable internal weak pull-up resistors for all pins, reducing the need for external components. It supports interrupt-on-change functionality, which allows the host microcontroller to remain in sleep mode until a logic change occurs on one of the 16 GPIO pins.

Applications

User Interface Expansion
Driving up to 16 LEDs or monitoring a matrix of tactile switches without consuming a high number of native MCU pins.
Legacy Peripheral Control
Interfacing with older parallel-bus hardware that requires many control lines for addressing and data.
System Logic Monitoring
Using the interrupt-on-change feature to monitor multiple digital alarm lines or logic state transitions in real-time.
