Overview

The MPM3610 is a synchronous rectified, step-down switch-mode converter with built-in internal inductors and capacitors. This highly integrated power module simplifies board design by requiring only five external components to create a complete 1.2A DC/DC solution. Its compact 3mm x 5mm QFN package makes it ideal for space-constrained Point-of-Load (PoL) applications where efficiency and thermal performance are critical.

Why Choose This Part

The module eliminates the need for external inductor selection and placement, reducing EMI concerns and design time. It supports a wide input range from 4.5V to 21V and includes integrated VCC and bootstrap capacitors. Advanced features like Advanced AM (AAM) mode allow for programmable power-save performance during light-load conditions.

Applications

Industrial Control Systems
Provides stable low-voltage rails for sensors and PLCs from 12V or 24V industrial buses.
Medical Imaging Equipment
Offers low-noise power conversion in compact diagnostic and imaging hardware.
LDO Replacement
Significantly improves efficiency over linear regulators in battery-powered or heat-sensitive designs.
Telecom Networking
Acts as a local PoL regulator for FPGA, DSP, and ASIC peripheral rails in compact networking modules.

Getting Started

Engineers can evaluate performance using the EVM3610-QV-00A evaluation board, which demonstrates the typical application circuit. When designing a custom PCB, place the input and output capacitors as close to the module pins as possible to minimize parasitic inductance. Output voltage is easily configured using a simple resistor divider connected to the FB pin starting from a 0.8V reference.
