Overview

The MPX5010DP is an integrated silicon pressure sensor designed for a wide range of applications, particularly those employing a microcontroller or microprocessor with A/D inputs. This differential transducer combines advanced micromachining techniques, thin-film metallization, and bipolar processing to provide an accurate, high-level analog output signal that is proportional to the applied pressure. It is specifically calibrated and temperature compensated to provide a reliable 0 to 10 kPa measurement range.

Why Choose This Part

The sensor features a patented silicon shear stress strain gauge that provides high sensitivity and linear performance. Its on-chip signal conditioning simplifies system design by providing a large 0.2 V to 4.7 V output swing, effectively eliminating the need for external instrumentation amplifiers.

Applications

Washing Machine Water Level
Utilizes differential pressure to accurately sense the height of the water column in the drum for precise cycle control.
HVAC Airflow Monitoring
Measures the pressure drop across filters or in ducts to ensure efficient ventilation and system performance.
Respiratory Systems
Used in medical equipment to monitor patient breathing and gas delivery pressure within a 1.45 PSI range.
Industrial Process Control
Ideal for liquid level and low-pressure gas monitoring in automated manufacturing and chemical processing.

Getting Started

To use this sensor, connect the 6-SIP module to a 5V supply and interface the analog output directly to a 10-bit or 12-bit ADC on a microcontroller. Ensure the dual barbed ports are connected using 0.19 inch (4.93mm) ID tubing, and apply the transfer function provided in the datasheet to convert voltage back to kPa.
