Overview

The NB-PTCO-157 is a 1 kOhms Platinum (Pt) Thin Film RTD designed for high-precision temperature sensing. It follows the standard Pt1000 characteristic with a temperature coefficient of 3850ppm/degC and provides Class B accuracy (approx. +/-0.3degC at 0degC). This sensor is capable of operating across a wide temperature range of -50degC to 300degC, making it suitable for demanding thermal environments.

Why Choose This Part

This PT1000 sensor offers a high resistance value which reduces the impact of lead wire resistance on measurement accuracy compared to PT100 elements. It features a stable 3850ppm/degC coefficient and a ceramic 2-SIP package with PC pins for secure through-hole mounting. The thin-film construction provides fast thermal response times and excellent long-term stability.

Applications

HVAC Systems
Accurate air and fluid temperature monitoring for climate control systems.
Industrial Process Control
Monitoring of machinery and oven temperatures within the -50degC to 300degC range.
Medical Equipment
Precise temperature regulation in laboratory and clinical diagnostic instruments.
Automotive Testing
Used for measuring exhaust or fluid temperatures in non-AEC-Q certified test setups.

Getting Started

To use this sensor, implement a constant current source of approximately 400 uA to minimize self-heating while maintaining a measurable voltage drop. Since it is a 2-wire device, use short PCB traces or a Kelvin-style 4-wire measurement configuration if the distance to the ADC is significant. Interface the output with a high-resolution ADC and apply the Callendar-Van Dusen equation for linearization over the -50degC to 300degC range.
