Overview

The NEO-M8Q-01A is a professional-grade GNSS receiver module built on the high-performance u-blox M8 engine. It provides concurrent reception of up to three GNSS systems, including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou, offering exceptional sensitivity of -167dBm for robust positioning in challenging environments. This module is qualified according to AEC-Q100 standards, making it suitable for demanding automotive and industrial applications.

Why Choose This Part

The module's concurrent GNSS capability significantly improves TTFF and positioning accuracy in urban canyons. With an operating temperature range of -40 degC to 105 degC and integrated LNA/saw filters, it simplifies RF design while ensuring reliability in extreme conditions. It also features built-in security mechanisms like spoofing detection and geofencing to protect the integrity of location data.

Applications

Automotive Telematics
Utilizes AEC-Q100 qualification and high update rates for vehicle tracking and fleet management systems.
Asset Tracking
Leverages low power modes (22mA continuous) and geofencing capabilities for long-term monitoring of mobile assets.
Industrial IoT Gateways
Provides precise timing and location data to edge devices via UART, I2C, SPI, or USB interfaces.
Navigation Systems
Features integrated spoofing detection and message integrity protection for secure positioning in consumer and commercial vehicles.

Getting Started

To evaluate the NEO-M8Q-01A, u-blox offers the EVK-M8 evaluation kits which provide a USB interface for direct connection to a PC. Engineers can use the u-center evaluation software for configuration, performance analysis, and testing the AssistNow autonomous services. Integration requires a 2.7V to 3.6V supply and careful PCB layout for the RF input to maintain the -167dBm sensitivity.
