OPT3001DNPRQ1

TIOPT3001DNPRQ1

Texas Instruments
Optical Sensor Ambient 550nm I2C 6-UDFN Exposed Pad
Active845 in stock

Overview

The OPT3001DNPRQ1 is a digital ambient light sensor (ALS) with a spectral response that closely matches the human eye. This AEC-Q100 qualified sensor provides a high-resolution 23-bit effective dynamic range from 0.01 lux to 83 klux via an I2C-compatible interface. It features automatic full-scale setting, which simplifies software by eliminating the need for manual gain adjustments.

Why Choose This Part

The sensor features precision optical filtering that rejects more than 99 percent of IR light, ensuring accurate measurements regardless of the light source. Its ultra-low power consumption of 1.8uA typical during operation and wide supply range of 1.6V to 3.6V make it ideal for battery-constrained automotive subsystems.

Applications

Automotive Display Backlighting
Adjusts infotainment and instrument cluster brightness based on cabin lighting conditions for driver comfort.
ADAS Optical Systems
Provides ambient light compensation for camera systems and safety sensors in various weather conditions.
Day/Night Power Management
Triggers headlight activation or energy-saving modes in EVs when environmental light levels drop below thresholds.
Smart Mirror Dimming
Controls the reflectivity of electrochromic mirrors to reduce glare from following vehicles.

Key Specifications

Getting Started

Interface with the device over I2C using a standard microcontroller; the 5.5V tolerant I/O pins allow for easy integration with different logic levels. Use the interrupt pin to wake the host MCU only when light levels exceed user-defined high or low thresholds to maximize system power savings.
