Overview

The P-NUCLEO-IHM03 is a comprehensive motor control evaluation kit that bundles the NUCLEO-G431RB board with the X-NUCLEO-IHM16M1 driver shield and a brushless DC motor. It leverages the STM32G431 microcontroller and the STSPIN830 driver to provide a complete hardware solution for low-voltage three-phase brushless motor control. This kit is designed to demonstrate high-performance motor driving capabilities using advanced sensing techniques and field-oriented control (FOC).

Why Choose This Part

The kit features a high-performance 170 MHz Cortex-M4 core with a dedicated FPU and specialized motor control peripherals to handle complex math in real-time. It provides integrated safety features including over-current, short-circuit, and thermal protection while supporting multiple sensing topologies like shunt resistors, Hall sensors, and quadrature encoders. The onboard STLINK-V3E debugger eliminates the need for external hardware for programming and telemetry.

Applications

Low-Voltage BLDC Motor Drives
Ideal for implementing speed and torque control in fans, pumps, and small home appliances operating from 7V to 45V.
Robotic Actuators
Utilizes the built-in encoder interface and Hall sensor support for precise positioning in small robotic joints.
Drone Propulsion Systems
Suitable for prototyping electronic speed controllers (ESCs) using 1-shunt or 3-shunt current sensing and BEMF detection.
Educational Prototyping
A complete out-of-the-box solution for engineers and students to learn motor control algorithms and ST's Motor Control SDK.
