TIPCA9306DQER
Overview
The PCA9306DQER is a dual bidirectional voltage-level translator specifically designed for I2C-bus and SMBus applications. It enables seamless communication between devices operating on different voltage rails, supporting translation from 1.2 V on VCCA up to 5.5 V on VCCB. With its auto-direction sensing capability, it eliminates the need for a dedicated direction control pin, simplifying circuit design.
Why Choose This Part
This device features a very low propagation delay of less than 1.5 ns and a low ON-state resistance of 3.5 ohms, ensuring minimal signal distortion even at high speeds. The flow-through pinout design simplifies PCB routing by allowing traces to pass directly through the footprint. Additionally, the X2SON package offers an extremely small footprint of 1.0 mm by 1.4 mm for space-constrained designs.

Getting Started
When integrating this part, ensure that VREF1 is connected to the lower voltage supply and VREF2 is connected to the higher voltage supply through a 200-kohm resistor as recommended in the datasheet. Pull-up resistors are required on the I2C lines to pull the signals to the desired high-level voltage. For rapid prototyping, look for PCA9306 breakout boards compatible with standard 2.54mm headers.
