Overview

The PIC16F1824-E/SL is a high-performance 8-bit microcontroller from Microchip's Enhanced Mid-Range family, featuring eXtreme Low Power (XLP) technology. Operating at up to 32MHz, it integrates 7KB of Flash memory and 256 bytes of EEPROM into a compact 14-pin SOIC package. This MCU includes specialized mTouch sensing support for capacitive touch applications and a variety of digital and analog peripherals for versatile system control.

Why Choose This Part

This microcontroller offers a balance of performance and efficiency with its 32MHz internal oscillator and 48 microamps per MHz typical current consumption. It features hardware-level enhancements like automatic interrupt context saving and a 16-level deep stack that simplify code development compared to older 8-bit architectures.

Applications

Capacitive Touch Interfaces
Utilizes integrated mTouch technology for implementing buttons, sliders, and proximity sensors in consumer and industrial panels.
Automotive Interior Controls
The extended temperature rating (-40 to +125 degrees Celsius) and low pin count make it suitable for lighting and sensor nodes in vehicles.
Battery-Powered Remote Sensors
Leverages XLP technology to minimize power consumption in sleep and active modes for prolonged battery life.
System Supervisory Circuits
Manages power-up sequences and system health monitoring using built-in Brown-out Reset, Power-on Reset, and Watchdog Timer.
