Overview

The PIC16F18313-I/P is a compact 8-bit microcontroller from the PIC16 Enhanced Mid-range family, featuring Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs) in a space-saving 8-pin PDIP package. Operating at up to 32MHz, it integrates XLP (eXtreme Low Power) technology for high efficiency in battery-constrained applications. This MCU includes 3.5KB of Flash and a suite of flexible peripherals including a Configurable Logic Cell (CLC) and Peripheral Pin Select (PPS).

Why Choose This Part

This microcontroller stands out for its high level of peripheral integration in an 8-pin package, allowing for complex logic and analog functions without CPU overhead. Features like PPS provide significant routing flexibility, while XLP technology ensures minimal current draw during idle or sleep states.

Applications

Signal Conditioning
Utilizing the internal 10-bit ADC, 5-bit DAC, and dual comparators for processing analog sensor signals in industrial environments.
Simple Control Logic
Replacing discrete logic gates with the integrated Configurable Logic Cell (CLC) to reduce component count and PCB footprint.
Battery-Powered Sensors
Leveraging XLP modes and a low sleep current of 40nA for remote environmental monitoring and handheld devices.
Human Interface
Driving status LEDs or simple piezo buzzers using the Complementary Waveform Generator (CWG) and PWM modules.

Getting Started

Development is primarily done using the MPLAB X IDE and the XC8 compiler, with the MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC) available to simplify peripheral setup. For hardware debugging and programming, a PICkit 4 or MPLAB Snap is recommended via the ICSP interface. Breadboard prototyping is straightforward thanks to the 8-pin PDIP through-hole package.
