Overview

The PSA4-5043+ is a high-linearity, ultra-low noise E-PHEMT monolithic amplifier designed for wideband applications from 50MHz to 4GHz. It operates on a single 3V or 5V supply and provides a balanced combination of 18.4dB gain and a very low noise figure of 0.75dB at 1GHz. The device is internally matched to 50 ohms, simplifying integration into RF signal chains as a low-noise amplifier or gain block.

Why Choose This Part

This amplifier offers an exceptionally low noise figure of 0.75dB, which is essential for maintaining signal integrity in the first stage of a receiver. Its internal matching to 50 ohms reduces the bill of materials and PCB complexity, while the SOT-343 package provides a compact footprint with high reliability and Class 1B ESD protection.

Applications

Cellular Infrastructure
Ideal for use in GSM, LTE, and WCDMA base station receivers where low noise figure and high IP3 are critical for sensitivity and dynamic range.
GPS and Navigation
Serves as a high-performance LNA for GPS receivers to improve signal acquisition in weak signal environments.
ISM Band Applications
Provides reliable gain for 915MHz and 2.4GHz ISM band transceivers used in industrial monitoring and IoT gateways.
Wideband Gain Block
Functions as a general-purpose driver or buffer amplifier for test equipment and software-defined radio (SDR) front ends.

Getting Started

Engineers should follow the recommended PCB layout in the datasheet to maintain 50-ohm impedance and ensure proper grounding of the source pins. Thermal management is achieved through the ground leads, so sufficient copper area should be provided. For initial evaluation, Mini-Circuits offers the TB-358+ evaluation board which includes the necessary DC blocking capacitors and bias-tee components for rapid testing.
