Overview

The SARA-R410M-02B is a versatile LTE Cat M1 and NB-IoT cellular module designed for global LPWAN applications. It features a compact 96-SMD castellation form factor and supports a wide range of frequency bands from 700MHz to 2.1GHz, making it suitable for international deployments. The module integrates multiple serial interfaces including UART, USB, SPI, and I2C to facilitate easy integration with host microcontrollers.

Why Choose This Part

This module offers a single hardware version for global use, simplifying inventory management and reducing certification costs. Its high sensitivity of -107.5dBm ensures reliable performance in challenging RF environments or deep indoor locations. Engineering integration is streamlined through extensive firmware support and a common SARA footprint that allows for pin-compatible migration between different cellular technologies.

Applications

Smart Metering
Utilizes NB-IoT for high penetration and low power consumption in utility monitoring for water, gas, and electricity.
Asset Tracking
Leverages LTE Cat M1 for mobile asset management where handover between cell towers is required for continuous connectivity.
Industrial Sensors
Provides reliable remote data logging for industrial environments with an operating temperature range of -40degC to 85degC.
Smart Agriculture
Ideal for battery-powered soil sensors and irrigation controllers due to its ultra-low power sleep modes.

Getting Started

To begin development, use the u-blox EVK-R4 evaluation kit which breaks out the module pins and provides a USB interface for AT command testing. Interface the module via the UART port using a 1.8V logic level translator if connecting to 3.3V or 5V microcontrollers. Use the u-blox m-center software tool to configure network settings and verify carrier registration.
