SENSCD41-D-R1
Overview
The SCD41-D-R1 is a high-performance carbon dioxide, humidity, and temperature sensor based on Sensirion's PASens photoacoustic NDIR technology. It offers a wide supply voltage range from 2.4V to 5.5V and integrates sensing elements into a compact 10mm x 10mm x 6.5mm surface-mount package. This sensor is specifically designed to meet the demands of indoor air quality monitoring with high accuracy in a reflow-solderable form factor.
Why Choose This Part
The photoacoustic sensing principle allows for a significant reduction in sensor size without compromising sensitivity, making it ideal for space-constrained designs. It features a single-shot operation mode that significantly reduces power consumption for battery-operated devices, complemented by a low 280uA sleep current. Additionally, the integrated temperature and humidity sensors provide comprehensive environmental data through a single I2C interface.

Getting Started
To evaluate the sensor, engineers can use the SEK-SCD41-Sensor evaluation kit which connects directly to a PC via the SEK-SensorBridge. For custom hardware integration, ensure the I2C lines are pulled up to VDD and utilize Sensirion's driver library available on GitHub for rapid firmware development. Pay close attention to the mechanical decoupling recommendations in the datasheet to prevent thermal interference from the PCB.
