Overview

The SG-210STF 24.0000ML5 is a compact 24 MHz CMOS crystal oscillator designed for reliable clock generation in space-constrained designs. It operates across a wide supply voltage range from 1.8V to 3.3V and features a standby function to minimize power consumption in battery-operated devices. With a 2.5mm x 2.0mm footprint, it provides a stable frequency reference for microcontrollers and digital signal processors.

Why Choose This Part

This oscillator supports a multi-voltage range of 1.8V to 3.3V, eliminating the need for dedicated voltage regulators for the clock source. Its tiny 2520 SMD package saves significant PCB real estate compared to traditional 3.2mm x 2.5mm or larger oscillators. Additionally, the +/-50ppm frequency stability ensures consistent performance over its full operating temperature range.

Applications

Microcontroller Clocking
Provides a high-accuracy 24 MHz external clock source for MCUs that require better stability than internal RC oscillators.
Battery-Powered Electronics
Utilizes the standby (power down) function to reduce current draw and extend battery life when the system is idle.
Communication Interfaces
Acts as a timing reference for synchronous serial protocols and low-speed wireless transceivers.
Industrial Sensors
Provides stable timing in environments ranging from -40 C to +85 C for industrial data acquisition.

Getting Started

To integrate this oscillator, connect the output pin to the OSC_IN or XTAL1 pin of your target microcontroller and ensure a 0.1uF bypass capacitor is placed close to the VCC pin. Use the ST pin to control the standby mode; pulling this pin low will stop the oscillation and significantly reduce current consumption. Ensure the PCB trace for the 24 MHz signal is kept as short as possible to minimize EMI and signal degradation.
