Overview

The SI5332A-D-GM1R is a high-performance, any-frequency clock generator that utilizes MultiSynth technology to provide up to 6 independent outputs. It supports a wide range of output formats including LVDS, LVPECL, HCSL, and LVCMOS with a maximum frequency of 333.33 MHz. This IC is designed to replace multiple clock crystals and oscillators with a single device, offering ultra-low phase jitter of 175 fs RMS.

Why Choose This Part

The primary advantage is the integration of a cross-point mux and MultiSynth technology, which allows any-frequency synthesis on any output without sacrificing jitter performance. It simplifies BOM by replacing discrete oscillators and supports a wide supply voltage range from 1.71V to 3.63V. The device is highly configurable, allowing engineers to define custom output signal formats and drive levels per pin.

Applications

PCIe Reference Clocking
Provides compliant reference clocks for PCIe Gen1 through Gen6, including SRIS support for high-speed data buses.
Network Switches and Routers
Synthesizes multiple synchronized frequencies for Ethernet controllers and high-speed switching fabric.
FPGA and SoC Clocking
Supplies various clock domains to FPGAs using a mix of differential and LVCMOS signal formats from a single reference.
Server and Storage Systems
Manages complex timing requirements for high-density compute nodes where board space for multiple oscillators is limited.

Getting Started

Designers should use the Skyworks ClockBuilder Pro software tool to configure the internal registers, frequency plan, and output formats. Evaluation can be performed using the SI5332-6EX-EVB or SI5332-12EX-EVB development boards which provide SMA access to the clock outputs. Once the configuration is finalized, the software generates a part-specific configuration file or can be used to request factory-programmed custom part numbers.
