SI5338C-B-GMR
Overview
The SI5338C-B-GMR is a high-performance, low-jitter clock generator capable of synthesizing any frequency on each of its four outputs. Utilizing Skyworks' MultiSynth technology, it provides 0 ppm frequency accuracy and supports diverse signal types including LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL, and LVCMOS. This IC is particularly suited for high-speed data applications like PCIe Gen 1 through 4 and Ethernet that require a flexible clocking architecture with minimal board space.
Why Choose This Part
The primary advantage is the 0.7 ps RMS phase jitter performance combined with the ability to generate four independent frequencies from a single 24-QFN package. It features an integrated PSRR that simplifies power supply filtering and offers independent phase adjustment and spread spectrum control per output. Its highly configurable nature allows for frequency increment/decrement and loss-of-lock alarms, reducing the need for multiple discrete oscillators.

Getting Started
Designers typically use the ClockBuilder Pro software tool from Skyworks to configure the internal registers and generate the required configuration file. For hardware evaluation, the Si5338-EVB evaluation board allows for real-time testing of different output frequencies and signal formats. Ensure the thermal pad of the 4x4 mm QFN is properly soldered to a ground plane to manage heat and signal integrity at frequencies up to 200MHz.
