SI5351B-B-GM1
Overview
The SI5351B-B-GM1 is a highly flexible, I2C-programmable clock generator and VCXO designed to replace crystals and crystal oscillators in space-constrained designs. It features an integrated Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator (VCXO) and can synthesize up to 8 unique frequencies from 8 kHz to 200 MHz with 0 ppm error. The architecture utilizes a MultiSynth fractional divider to provide glitchless frequency changes and excellent jitter performance across multiple independent outputs.
Why Choose This Part
The SI5351B eliminates the need for expensive custom oscillators by using a low-cost 25 or 27 MHz crystal to generate any frequency up to 200 MHz. It offers excellent power supply rejection (PSRR), which simplifies PCB design by removing the requirement for dedicated external LDOs and discrete filtering. The part is highly power-efficient, drawing only 24mA with four outputs active and including separate voltage supply pins for easy level translation between 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V logic.

Getting Started
Configuration is handled via a standard I2C interface, allowing for in-system programming or factory pre-programming. Engineers typically use the Skyworks ClockBuilder Pro software to generate register maps and configuration files. For rapid prototyping, many use the SI5351A-B-EVB evaluation board to verify output performance and jitter specifications before committing to a final PCB layout.
