Overview

The SI8660BC-B-IS1 is a high-performance, six-channel digital isolator providing 3750Vrms isolation using proprietary capacitive coupling technology. It supports data rates up to 150Mbps with all six channels oriented in the same direction (unidirectional), making it ideal for isolating wide parallel data buses or multiple status signals. This device ensures robust signal integrity in harsh environments with a high common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 35kV/us.

Why Choose This Part

This isolator offers a very high channel density in a compact 16-SOIC package, significantly reducing PCB footprint compared to optocouplers. It features low propagation delay and minimal skew, ensuring precise timing for high-speed data transfers up to 150Mbps across a wide 2.5V to 5.5V supply range.

Applications

Isolated SPI/UART Communication
Providing galvanic isolation for high-speed serial interfaces between microcontrollers and peripherals in industrial systems.
Motor Control Feedback
Isolating gate drive signals and digital feedback loops in high-voltage motor inverter stages.
Battery Management Systems (BMS)
Bridging the isolation barrier between high-voltage battery stacks and low-voltage monitoring circuitry.
Industrial Fieldbus Isolation
Protecting internal logic from surges and ground loops in RS-485, CAN, or Profibus communication nodes.

Getting Started

To evaluate this device, use a SOIC-16 breakout board or the Si86xxISO-KIT evaluation hardware from Skyworks. Ensure 0.1uF bypass capacitors are placed as close as possible to both VDD1 and VDD2 pins to maintain signal integrity at high switching speeds. Layout should maintain the creepage and clearance requirements necessary for the 3750Vrms isolation rating.
