Overview

The SI8663BB-B-IS1 is a high-performance six-channel digital isolator based on proprietary capacitive coupling technology. It provides 2500Vrms isolation with a high data rate of 150Mbps and robust common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 35kV/us. This device features three forward and three reverse channels, making it ideal for bidirectional data isolation in space-constrained designs.

Why Choose This Part

This isolator offers significant advantages over optocouplers, including lower power consumption of approximately 5.2mA per channel at 100Mbps and much tighter propagation delay characteristics. The 16-SOIC narrow body package provides six isolation channels in a small footprint while supporting a wide supply voltage range from 2.375V to 5.5V.

Applications

Isolated SPI Bus
Provides high-speed galvanic isolation for Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) signals including MISO, MOSI, SCLK, and chip select lines.
Industrial Fieldbus
Isolates RS-485, RS-232, or CAN bus transceivers from sensitive microcontrollers in harsh EMI environments.
Motor Control Systems
Protects low-voltage control logic from high-voltage transients and noise in inverter and gate driver circuits.
Isolated ADC/DAC Interfaces
Maintains signal integrity when interfacing precision analog-to-digital converters across different ground planes.

Getting Started

To evaluate this device, use the Si86xxISO-KIT evaluation board which allows for rapid prototyping of various channel configurations. Ensure high-frequency decoupling capacitors (0.1uF) are placed as close as possible to the VDD1 and VDD2 pins for optimal CMTI performance. No special toolchains are required as the device operates as a simple level-shifting digital buffer.
