Overview

The SL2001A-WHS is a specialized laser diode driver designed for Time-of-Flight (ToF) and LiDAR applications requiring extremely narrow pulses. It features an integrated GaN/MOS drive and a resonant-mode architecture capable of generating laser pulses with a Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) of less than 2 nanoseconds. This high-efficiency driver minimizes system no-load power consumption to under 5 mW while providing flexible timing control via I2C.

Why Choose This Part

The driver's resonant-mode architecture provides superior charging efficiency and allows for ultra-fast laser triggering with minimal external components. It includes 7 MTP bytes and 218 OTP bytes for custom timing and fault settings, and its 1mm x 3.5mm WLCSP package is ideal for space-constrained optical assemblies.

Applications

LiDAR Scanning Systems
High-speed laser driving for automotive and industrial environment mapping requiring sub-2ns pulse widths.
Time-of-Flight (ToF) Sensors
Precise distance measurement for handheld rangefinders and industrial level sensing.
ADAS Perception
Enabling high-resolution 3D depth sensing for autonomous vehicle safety systems.
3D Mapping and Scanning
Drives resonant-mode diode lasers for high-fidelity spatial data acquisition in drones and robotics.

Getting Started

Configuration is handled via the I2C interface to program the MTP memory for fault thresholds and timing settings. Engineers should focus on low-inductance PCB layout around the WLCSP pins to maintain the sub-2ns switching performance, utilizing the dual drive outputs to balance the laser load.
