SPS30
Overview
The SPS30 is a high-accuracy optical particulate matter (PM) sensor that utilizes laser scattering principles to provide digital output for PM1.0, PM2.5, PM4, and PM10 concentrations. It features Sensirion's proprietary contamination resistance technology and an integrated fan for automatic cleaning, ensuring a long operational life of over 10 years. The module comes fully calibrated and communicates via dual I2C and UART interfaces for easy integration into embedded systems.
Why Choose This Part
The SPS30 offers superior long-term stability and resistance to dust accumulation compared to traditional PM sensors, reducing the need for maintenance or field replacement. Its ability to provide mass concentration for multiple particle sizes (PM1.0 to PM10) and its wide measurement range of 0 to 1,000 ug/m3 make it a versatile tool for precision air analysis. Operating at 4.5V to 5.5V with a maximum current of 60 mA, it fits easily into standard 5V digital systems.

Getting Started
To begin development, engineers can use the SEK-SPS30 evaluation kit which connects to a PC via USB for rapid testing. For firmware integration, Sensirion provides official C and Arduino drivers on GitHub that support both the I2C and UART communication modes. Ensure the module is mounted according to the mechanical guidelines to maintain optimal airflow through the 41mm x 41mm x 12mm housing.
