Overview

The STM32F407G-DISC1 is an STMicroelectronics Discovery development board built around the STM32F407VG microcontroller. The board includes an onboard ST-Link/V2-A debugger, an accelerometer, an audio DAC, and USB OTG connectivity to speed prototyping. It is intended for firmware development, peripheral evaluation, and learning the STM32F4 ecosystem.

Why Choose This Part

The board integrates an ST-Link/V2-A debugger/programmer so you can flash and debug firmware without extra hardware. Onboard peripherals (audio DAC, accelerometer, USB OTG) reduce BOM and speed iteration when evaluating sensors and audio features. Strong ecosystem support from ST (HAL/LL libraries, example projects) and community resources makes getting from prototype to proof-of-concept faster.

Applications

Embedded firmware development
Use as a general-purpose development platform for writing, debugging, and validating STM32F4 firmware and drivers.
USB device/host prototyping
Develop and test USB OTG applications such as mass storage, audio, or custom device/host stacks.
Audio codec experiments
Prototype audio input/output, playback and codec integration using the onboard audio DAC.
Motion sensing and data logging
Build sensor-driven demos and logging applications using the onboard accelerometer and available interfaces.
Education and demos
Teach or demonstrate ARM Cortex-M development workflows and peripheral features with an integrated debugger and example projects.

Getting Started

Install STM32CubeIDE (or use STM32CubeMX plus your preferred toolchain) and the ST drivers and utilities such as STM32CubeProgrammer. Connect the board via its ST-Link interface for programming and debugging; sample projects and peripheral examples are available from ST's Discovery package. You can also use Keil MDK, IAR, or arm-none-eabi GCC toolchains if you prefer those toolchains.
