Overview

The STM32G030J6M6 is a cost-effective Arm Cortex-M0+ microcontroller in a compact 8-pin SOIC package, operating at speeds up to 64MHz. Despite its small pin count, it integrates 32KB of Flash and 8KB of RAM, making it suitable for space-constrained applications that require 32-bit processing power. It features a rich set of peripherals including a 12-bit ADC, multiple timers, and standard serial interfaces like USART and I2C.

Why Choose This Part

This MCU offers a high performance-to-size ratio, delivering 64MHz operation in a standard 8-pin SOIC package. It includes 5 DMA channels and a 12-bit ADC with up to 7 channels, which is exceptional for such a low pin-count device. The internal RC oscillator and integrated reset circuitry minimize external component requirements, further reducing PCB footprint and BOM cost.

Applications

Simple Sensor Nodes
Utilize the 12-bit ADC and I2C interface to process and transmit sensor data in small form-factor devices.
Legacy Logic Replacement
Replace discrete logic or aging 8-bit microcontrollers with a more powerful 32-bit architecture for better efficiency.
Power Management Control
Small footprint makes it ideal for supervising power rails, managing battery charging cycles, or controlling basic PWM power stages.
Peripheral Bridge
Acts as a smart interface bridge between a main processor and simple peripherals via USART or SPI.

Getting Started

Development is supported by the STM32Cube ecosystem, including STM32CubeIDE and the STM32CubeG0 software package. For hardware evaluation, use an external ST-LINK/V2 or V3 debugger connected to the SWD pins. Practical implementation requires a decoupling capacitor on the VDD pin and careful pin multiplexing since most pins share multiple functions.
