Overview

The STM32WL30KBV6 is an ultra-low-power sub-GHz wireless microcontroller based on the Arm Cortex-M0+ core running up to 64 MHz. It integrates a high-performance radio transceiver supporting 802.15.4, Zigbee, and proprietary LPWAN protocols across the 413-479 MHz and 868-958 MHz frequency bands.

Why Choose This Part

This SoC combines an MCU and RF transceiver in a compact 5x5mm VFQFPN32 package, reducing BOM cost and board space. It features advanced security with an AES-128 co-processor and TRNG, while achieving exceptional power efficiency with 14 uA shutdown current.

Applications

Smart Utility Metering
Ideal for gas and water meters requiring sub-GHz long-range communication and multi-year battery life.
Industrial Sensor Nodes
Deployment in harsh environments using proprietary or standard LPWAN protocols for long-distance data telemetry.
Building Automation
Integration into KNX or Zigbee systems for lighting, HVAC, and security control in commercial structures.
Agriculture Technology
Remote soil and moisture monitoring in large-scale farming where cellular coverage is unavailable.

Getting Started

Developers can utilize the STM32CubeWL software package, which includes peripheral drivers and full radio stacks for standard protocols. Hardware evaluation is best performed using the NUCLEO-WL33CC dev board with an external antenna connected to the SMA port.
