Overview

The THS3091ID is a high-voltage, low-distortion current-feedback operational amplifier designed for demanding high-speed signal chains. It is specifically engineered to provide a large output swing and high current drive of up to 310mA, making it ideal for driving heavy loads like 75-ohm coaxial cables or capacitive loads. Operating on a supply range of 5V to 16V, it features a massive 6000V/us slew rate to minimize distortion in large-signal applications.

Why Choose This Part

The primary advantage of the THS3091ID is its combination of a 6000V/us slew rate and 310mA output current capability, which prevents the slew-rate limiting common in high-voltage pulse applications. Its current-feedback architecture ensures that bandwidth remains relatively constant across various gain settings, while the low 1.1 nV/rtHz noise floor maintains signal integrity.

Applications

High-Capacitance Drive
Driving large capacitive loads in PIN diode drivers or ultrasonic transducer excitation where high peak currents are required.
Video Distribution
Driving multiple 75-ohm video lines or long cable interfaces in professional broadcast equipment.
Arbitrary Waveform Generators
Serving as the output power stage for signal generators that require high speed and high output voltage swings.
ATE Pin Drivers
Providing fast-switching, high-current pulses for automated test equipment signal paths.

Getting Started

When designing with the THS3091ID, use a solid ground plane and place 0.1uF ceramic bypass capacitors as close to the supply pins as possible to maintain stability. The THS3091EVM evaluation module is available to test performance in various gain configurations and load conditions. Pay close attention to the feedback resistor (Rf) value, as current-feedback stability is highly dependent on this specific component value.
