NXP Semiconductors
CAN Interface IC High-Speed CAN Transceiver with Standby Mode
16,102 in stock

Overview

The TJA1040T is a high-speed CAN transceiver that provides the physical interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical differential bus lines. It is designed for automotive and industrial applications requiring data rates up to 1 MBaud and features a very low-current standby mode with remote wake-up capability.

Why Choose This Part

This transceiver offers zero bus load when unpowered, preventing interference with the network if a node loses power. It also includes a TXD dominant time-out function to prevent bus clamping and provides excellent electromagnetic immunity for noisy environments.

Applications

Automotive Body Control
Used in vehicle networking modules where low power consumption during ignition-off states is critical.
Industrial Automation Systems
Ideal for robust communication in factory environments thanks to its high common-mode range and electromagnetic immunity.
Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
Facilitates reliable data exchange in multi-node networks supporting at least 110 nodes.

Getting Started

To implement this part, provide a 4.75V to 5.25V supply to VCC and connect the TXD/RXD pins to a CAN controller. For improved electromagnetic emission performance, utilize the SPLIT pin for stabilizing the recessive bus level in conjunction with split termination resistors.

Also Consider

MCP2551-I/SN MCHPMicrochip Technology - A widely used alternative high-speed CAN transceiver that also supports 1 MBaud operation.
