NXP USA Inc.
Mantis® CAN Transceiver, up to 5Mbit/s, VIO
Active6,093 in stock

Overview

The TJA1044BT/0Z is an NXP Mantis CAN transceiver that implements the CAN physical layer for a single CAN channel. It supports data rates up to 5 Mbit/s and provides a separate VIO supply for logic-level interfacing. The device is available in an 8-SOIC package and is specified for extended junction temperatures.

Why Choose This Part

Provides a high data-rate CAN physical interface (up to 5 Mbit/s) with a separate VIO pin for direct interfacing to different microcontroller I/O voltages. The extended junction temperature rating and standard 8-SOIC package make it convenient for automotive and industrial board designs that require robust, solderable surface-mount solutions.

Applications

Automotive in-vehicle networks
Use as the physical-layer interface between an ECU CAN controller and the vehicle CAN bus for body, gateway, or control modules.
CAN FD and high-speed CAN systems
Supports up to 5 Mbit/s data rates, suitable for CAN FD or other high-speed CAN topologies that require higher throughput.
Industrial CANopen and device networks
Deploy in factory automation, robotics, or machine control networks that use CAN/CANopen for sensor, actuator, and controller communication.
Harsh-environment applications
Rated for wide temperature operation, making it appropriate for powertrain-adjacent electronics and other thermally demanding environments.

Getting Started

Connect the transceiver between your MCU CAN controller TX/RX pins and the CAN bus lines with a 120 ohm termination at each end of the bus; follow the device datasheet for VCC and VIO supply decoupling and recommended bus protection. For development and debugging, use a CAN interface tool such as a PEAK-PCAN, Kvaser, or SocketCAN-capable adapter and exercise the controller with your MCU toolchain; verify layout, grounding, and transient suppression for reliable operation.
