Overview

The TLIN2021DRQ1 is a Local Interconnect Network (LIN) physical layer transceiver with integrated wake-up and protection features designed for automotive and industrial applications. It acts as an interface between a LIN protocol controller and the physical bus, supporting data rates up to 100kbps in fast mode for programming. This AEC-Q100 qualified device is compatible with 12V and 24V systems and features a wide supply range of 4.5V to 45V.

Why Choose This Part

This transceiver offers high robustness with +/- 60V fault protection on the LIN bus and integrated 42V load dump support. It minimizes system power consumption with a low 12uA sleep mode and provides an INH pin for controlling external voltage regulators. The device also includes fail-safe features such as TXD dominant state time-out and thermal shutdown to prevent bus interference during hardware faults.

Applications

Automotive Body Control
Ideal for door modules, window lifters, seat controllers, and roof modules where low-speed serial communication is required.
Industrial Sensors
Used in industrial automation for connecting sensors and actuators to a master controller over long distances with high noise immunity.
Commercial Vehicles
Supports 24V battery systems in heavy machinery and trucks, providing robust communication in harsh electrical environments.

Getting Started

To evaluate this part, use the TLIN2021EVM evaluation module which provides easy access to all pins and bus signals. When designing the PCB, place a 100nF decoupling capacitor close to the VSUP pin and ensure the LIN bus trace is kept short to minimize electromagnetic emissions. Integration requires a standard UART interface from a microcontroller to drive the TXD and RXD pins at 5V or 3.3V logic levels.
