Texas Instruments
Linear Voltage Regulator IC Positive Fixed 1 Output 800mA SOT-223-4
Active1,801 in stock

Overview

The TLV1117-18IDCYR is a fixed-output low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator designed to provide a stable 1.8V rail from input sources up to 15V. It is capable of delivering up to 800mA of output current, making it suitable for powering digital logic, microcontrollers, and interface circuits. The device includes internal protection features such as over-current and over-temperature shutdown to ensure system reliability.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator offers a high Power Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR) of 75dB at 120Hz, which helps filter ripple from primary power stages. Its SOT-223 package provides a good balance between thermal performance and board space, while the wide operating temperature range of -40 to 125 degrees Celsius supports industrial-grade environments.

Applications

Microcontroller Power Rails
Providing a stable 1.8V core or I/O supply for low-power MCUs and FPGAs.
Industrial Smart Meters
Regulating power for metering ICs and communication modules in utility monitoring hardware.
Building Automation Systems
Used in HVAC controllers and security panels to step down 5V or 12V rails to 1.8V logic levels.
Consumer Electronics
Integrated into home theater systems and appliances for local point-of-load regulation.

Getting Started

To implement this LDO, place a minimum 10uF tantalum capacitor at the output for stability and a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor at the input to filter high-frequency noise. Ensure the PCB copper pour around the SOT-223 tab is sufficient to dissipate heat, especially when the input-to-output voltage differential is high at full 800mA loads.
