Overview

The TLV70018 is a 200mA low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator designed for low-power applications requiring a stable 1.8V supply. It features high power-supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and low quiescent current, making it ideal for noise-sensitive portable electronics. The device maintains stability with very small ceramic output capacitors, minimizing the total PCB footprint.

Why Choose This Part

The TLV70018 offers a high PSRR of 68dB at 1kHz, which effectively filters ripple from upstream switching regulators. It features a low dropout voltage of 0.25V at its full 200mA load, extending the useful life of battery-powered systems. Integrated thermal shutdown and overcurrent protection provide robust reliability in a compact 5-pin package.

Applications

Portable Handheld Devices
Provides a stable 1.8V rail for mobile handsets and digital media players where space and battery life are critical.
Microcontroller I/O Rails
Powers the low-voltage logic and I/O banks of advanced MCUs and FPGAs in embedded systems.
Wireless Sensor Nodes
Supplies low-noise power to Zigbee or Bluetooth Low Energy modules while maintaining low 31uA quiescent current.

Getting Started

To implement this LDO, place a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor on the input and a 1.0uF ceramic capacitor on the output, ensuring they are located as close to the pins as possible. The EN pin must be pulled high (above 1.2V) to enable the regulator or low (below 0.4V) to enter a low-power shutdown mode consuming only 1uA. For thermal considerations, ensure the PCB ground plane is utilized to dissipate heat from the small SC70 package.
