TMD37253M
Overview
The TMD37253M is a compact optical sensor module that integrates color (RGBC) ambient light sensing and proximity detection. It is designed to operate behind darkened glass, utilizing its high sensitivity and 36.5 degree field of view to measure light intensity and detect object presence. The device includes an internal IR LED and driver in a miniature 3.65mm x 2.0mm x 1.0mm package, making it ideal for mobile and wearable platforms.
Why Choose This Part
This module features extremely low power consumption with a 0.7uA sleep mode and typically operates between 1.7V and 2.0V VDD. Its integrated IR LED and specialized proximity engine reduce external component count and PCB footprint. The I2C interface supports fast mode up to 400kHz, allowing for quick integration with standard mobile application processors.
Applications
Getting Started
Interface the sensor via the I2C bus and provide a stable 1.8V supply to the VDD pin. Engineers should utilize the ams OSRAM driver software to configure the integration time for the RGBC photodiodes and the pulse frequency for the proximity engine. Ensure the optical window in the housing aligns with the 8-pin OLGA package to maintain the specified field of view.
