TITMS320C5515
Overview
The TMS320C5515 is a high-performance, fixed-point Digital Signal Processor (DSP) based on the C55x core architecture, designed for power-sensitive applications requiring efficient signal processing. Operating at up to 120MHz, it features 320kB of on-chip RAM and a dedicated hardware accelerator for Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) computations. The device integrates several power-saving technologies, including three on-chip LDOs and isolated power domains, to achieve power consumption as low as 0.15 mW/MHz.
Why Choose This Part
The primary advantage is its exceptional power efficiency of 0.15 mW/MHz at 60MHz, combined with a dedicated hardware accelerator that offloads complex FFT operations from the main CPU. It provides a robust set of peripherals including USB 2.0, an integrated RTC, and multiple I/O voltage support (1.8V to 3.3V) which simplifies interfacing with diverse external components. The C55x architecture also ensures software compatibility across a wide range of TI legacy DSP codebases.

Getting Started
To begin development, use the TMDX5515EZDSP USB Stick development tool which provides a complete hardware platform and integrated XDS100 emulator. Software development is supported by Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio (CCS), which includes the C55x DSP/BIOS kernel and optimized signal processing libraries. Refer to the TMS320C5515 Bootloader peripheral user guide for configuring the 128kB on-chip ROM for various boot modes.
