Texas Instruments
TPA3255 PurePath™ 1-Channel (Mono) or 2-Channel (Stereo) Output Class D Audio Amplifier Evaluation Board
Active42 in stock

Overview

The TPA3255EVM is a high-power Class D audio amplifier evaluation module designed to demonstrate the performance of the TPA3255 integrated circuit. It supports flexible output configurations including 2-channel Bridge-Tied Load (BTL) or 1-channel Parallel Bridge-Tied Load (PBTL) for high-current mono applications. The board operates from a supply voltage of 18V to 53.5V and can deliver up to 605W into a 2-Ohm load in mono mode.

Why Choose This Part

This module provides a turnkey platform for testing TI PurePath technology with built-in protection against short circuits, clipping, and thermal overloads. It features professional-grade RCA inputs and robust screw terminals for high-current power and speaker connections, ensuring reliable operation during maximum power testing.

Applications

High-Power Stereo Systems
Evaluation of 315W per channel stereo performance for high-fidelity home audio or professional speakers.
Active Subwoofers
Utilizing the PBTL configuration to drive 2-Ohm subwoofers with up to 605W of power.
Public Address Systems
Prototyping high-efficiency distribution amplifiers for large-scale audio installations.
Replacement for Class AB Designs
Benchmarking efficiency and thermal performance when upgrading from traditional power-hungry linear amplifiers.

Getting Started

To begin evaluation, connect a DC power supply between 18V and 53.5V to the power terminals and provide a differential or single-ended audio signal via the RCA inputs. Configure the onboard jumpers to select between Stereo (BTL) or Mono (PBTL) output modes before applying power. Ensure adequate heat sinking or airflow if testing at continuous high power levels near the 600W threshold.
