Overview

The TPS5430DDAR is a high-output-current PWM converter that integrates a low-resistance high-side N-channel MOSFET. Capable of delivering 3A continuous output current, this buck regulator operates from a wide input range of 5.5V to 36V, making it suitable for high-voltage industrial and consumer power rails.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator features internal compensation and a high 500kHz switching frequency, which significantly reduces the size and count of external components. The 8-pin HSOIC PowerPAD package provides excellent thermal performance by allowing heat dissipation directly into the PCB copper layers.

Applications

Industrial Power Systems
Providing 5V or 3.3V rails from 24V industrial supply buses with high efficiency.
LCD Displays
Powering backlighting and logic circuits in monitors and televisions requiring up to 3A of current.
Battery Charging
Utilizing the adjustable output voltage down to 1.221V for various secondary battery chemistry charging circuits.

Getting Started

To begin design, select an inductor and output capacitor based on the 500kHz switching frequency to minimize ripple. Ensure the PowerPAD is soldered to a large ground plane for thermal management, and use a low-ESR ceramic input capacitor placed as close as possible to the VIN and GND pins.
