TPS61040DRVR

TITPS61040DRVR

Texas Instruments
Compact, high-frequency boost converter alternative for low-voltage inputs and small external components.
NRND11,701 in stock

Overview

The TPS61040DRVR is a compact, high-frequency boost converter designed to generate output voltages up to 28V from an input range of 1.8V to 6V. It features a high 1MHz switching frequency and a low 28uA quiescent current, making it ideal for driving small LCD biases or OLED displays from single-cell Li-ion or dual-cell alkaline batteries.

Why Choose This Part

This converter stands out for its tiny 2mm x 2mm WSON package and high switching frequency, which allows for the use of very small external inductors and ceramic capacitors. It includes an internal soft-start feature to minimize inrush current and features a deep shutdown mode that reduces current consumption to just 1uA.

Applications

LCD Bias Power
Generating the high-voltage bias rails required for small monochrome or color LCD panels in handheld devices.
OLED Display Supply
Providing a stable, high-voltage supply for organic LED displays in wearable electronics.
White LED Backlighting
Driving strings of LEDs in series for uniform brightness in small display backlights.
Low Power Flashlight
Efficiently stepping up battery voltage to drive high-intensity LEDs in portable equipment.

Getting Started

When designing a PCB, place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the IC pins to minimize high-frequency noise. Use the TPS61040EVM-001 evaluation module to test transient response and efficiency before finalizing your layout. Ensure the feedback resistor network is placed away from the inductor to prevent inductive coupling into the feedback loop.
