Overview

The TPS61170DRVR is a monolithic, high-voltage switching regulator from Texas Instruments with an integrated 1.2A, 40V power MOSFET. It operates at a fixed 1.2MHz switching frequency and supports boost, buck-boost, SEPIC, and flyback topologies for versatile power conversion.

Why Choose This Part

The 1.2MHz frequency allows for very small external inductors and capacitors, fitting the entire solution into a compact footprint. It features a unique 1-wire digital interface for on-the-fly output voltage reprogramming and supports PWM dimming for lighting applications.

Applications

LED Backlighting
Driving high-voltage LED strings in small to medium sized displays using the internal 40V switch.
Industrial 12V/24V Rails
Generating stable 12V or 24V supply rails from a 3V to 18V input battery or bus.
OLED Power Supply
Providing the precise positive voltage required for OLED bias in portable electronics.
Handheld Medical Devices
Efficient power conversion in space-constrained designs needing up to 18V input support.

Getting Started

Evaluation can be performed using the TPS61170EVM-280 module. Ensure the feedback resistor network is placed close to the FB pin and provide a low-impedance ground path to the exposed thermal pad of the 6-WDFN package for optimal thermal performance.
