Overview

The TPS62135 is a high-efficiency synchronous step-down buck regulator capable of delivering up to 4A of output current from an input voltage range of 3V to 17V. It utilizes Texas Instruments' DCS-Control topology to provide fast transient response and high output voltage accuracy. The device is designed for space-constrained applications, featuring a small 2mm x 3mm VQFN package and a low quiescent current of 18uA.

Why Choose This Part

The DCS-Control topology combines the benefits of hysteretic and voltage mode control for excellent transient performance and 1% output voltage accuracy. It supports 100% duty cycle mode for low dropout operation and includes an Automatic Efficiency Enhancement (AEE) feature to maintain high efficiency across the entire load range.

Applications

Standard 12V Rail Conversion
Efficiently stepping down 12V industrial or automotive battery rails to low-voltage logic levels like 3.3V or 1.8V.
Battery-Powered Systems
Utilizing the 18uA quiescent current and Power Save Mode to extend battery life in portable electronics.
High-Current Microprocessor Power
Providing up to 4A of regulated power to FPGAs, DSPs, and application processors requiring fast load transient response.
Solid State Drives (SSD)
Small footprint and high efficiency make it suitable for power rails in compact storage solutions.

Getting Started

To evaluate the performance, use the TPS62135EVM-698 evaluation module which allows for testing different output voltages and load conditions. Design and simulation can be performed using TI WEBENCH Power Designer to calculate external component values and predict thermal performance. Ensure the Power Good (PG) and ENABLE pins are properly interfaced for system sequencing.
